Gargnano, nestled along the picturesque shores of Lake Garda, offers a serene escape with its quaint harbors and lush Mediterranean gardens. This charming village is known for its historic architecture, vibrant lemon groves, and tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for those seeking both relaxation and a touch of Italian culture. Whether it's sailing on the crystal-clear waters or exploring ancient villas, Gargnano captivates with its timeless beauty and tranquil lakeside ambiance.

La Casa del Tesöl

The apartment is located on the second floor of a large family house. Above and below it live two original families. The apartment is fully equipped. Inside, you will find a simple 'Nonna-chic' classic Italian style with a beautiful fireplace. The house stands on an impressive hill and can only be accessed by car or by foot. There is limited public transportation (buses) that go to Gargnano (no train), so we strongly recommend renting a car at the airport if you fly to Italy.

Casa del Tesöl offers unbeatable views of the northern part of Lake Garda and Monte Baldo. See for yourself:(Tip: Click on the image to enlarge)

Your hosts🌈

We are Gabriele and Vit, an Italian-Czech couple in between the four countries of Italy, Czechia, Germany, and Iceland. Casa del Tesöl is originally Gabriele's grandma's flat, where Gabriele and his family grew up with fond memories of Nonna and her famous Passatelli.

Transportation

By boat

The best mode of transport to visit the lake and the surrounding villages is undoubtedly by boat. You can buy tickets here. On some ferries, you can board with your car and save yourself a trip if you want to visit the eastern side of the lake.

By car

Gardesana is the main road that goes around the entire Lake Garda. However, especially in the summer, traffic can sometimes collapse here, so we recommend traveling by boat whenever possible. Nevertheless, a car is almost essential to reach Casa del Tesöl.

By bike/motorbike

Riding a motorcycle can help you avoid the worst traffic jams. It is not ideal to cycle directly on the Gardesana, but in the surrounding areas and villages, it is one way to experience Lake Garda from a different perspective.

By bus

For shorter distances, it is also possible to take the bus. Schedules are available here. In general, it is important to consider that transportation around Lake Garda can be very slow. For longer distances, we therefore recommend other means of transport.

What to visit

Here are a few of our tips for visiting. Honestly, wherever you go around the lake, you will find something beautiful and interesting :). We are happy to personally recommend more places to you.

Limone sul Garda

The name of the village indicates that the most important industry here in the past was lemon groves. Today, these groves are accessible as citrus museums. Excellent gastronomy and a large beach make Limone sul Garda one of the most popular destinations on Lake Garda.

Malcesine

Our personal favorite village is located on the eastern side of the lake, accessible by the local ferry. Worth visiting are the well-preserved ruins of the local castle and the beautiful harbor with a promenade perfect for an evening Aperol. Although tourists do visit here, Malcesine is not yet overcrowded.

Gardaland

If you or your children enjoy a bit of adrenaline, we definitely recommend visiting the best and largest amusement park in Italy. Gardaland offers dozens of roller coasters and other attractions for everyone, from the youngest to adults!

Sirmione

Sirmione is one of the most famous towns on Lake Garda. It lies on a long peninsula in the south of the lake. In addition to the medieval fortress at the entrance, you can visit the local thermal baths and ancient Roman ruins.

Monte Baldo

Monte Baldo, known as the "Garden of Europe," rises above the eastern side of Lake Garda. A cable car runs from Malcesine, and at the summit, you'll find a unique alpine experience with diverse flora, panoramic lake views, and numerous hiking trails.

Costa

Our secret tip: 15 km into the mountains from Gargnano lie the semi-forgotten villages of Costa and Mignone. These are especially recommended for hiking enthusiasts who prefer trails without tourists. The beautiful alpine forests will refresh you in the hot summer air. Be sure to visit the excellent restaurant Locanda Genzianella, which offers classic mountain dishes (wild game, the local version of skewers called "Spiedo," and even pizza).

Looking forward to hosting you! ⚓
